《金属学报》创刊于1956年, 是由中国金属学会主办、中国科学院金属研究所承办的材料冶金领域的学术性期刊，是我国材料冶金方面最早的期刊之一，刊登冶金科技和材料科学与工程方面具有创新性、高水平和有重要意义的原始学术论文以及反映学科发展状况的综述和信息性文章。著名科学家李薰先生任首任主编, 柯俊院士为现任主编, 师昌绪院士为名誉主编。《金属学报》一直是国际、国内重要检索系统及数据库的核心期刊，已被国际著名检索系统SCI、EI、CA等六大检索全部收录。在国内期刊历次评比中《金属学报》都得到最高荣誉奖的优秀期刊,包括第一、二、三届国家期刊奖, 国家期刊方阵“双高”期刊奖,中国科协优秀期刊一等奖, 中国科学院优秀期刊特别奖、首届出版政府奖等。还是国家基金委专项资助、科学院出版基金及中国科协择优支持重点支持的期刊之一。《金属学报》已经在国际上具有一定的影响, 成为反映我国冶金科技和材料科学与工程研究水平的核心学术期刊。

ACTA METALLURGICA SINICA (in Chinese), founded in 1956, authorized by the China Association for Science and Technology, sponsored by The Chinese Society for Metals, and undertaken by the Institute of Metal Research Chinese Academy of Sciences, is published monthly by Science Press. The first editor in chief was Mr. Lee Sun, Mr. Ke Jun is the current editor in chief and Mr. Shi Changxu is the honorary editor in chief.

     ACTA METALLURGICA SINICA focuses on the latest research in all aspects of metallurgy and metallic materials science. It explores relationships among processing, structure, and properties of metallic materials, publishes critically reviewed, original research of archival significance.

ACTA METALLURGICA SINICA address the main topics of alloy phases, transformations, transport phenomena, mechanical behavior, physical chemistry, environment, welding and joining, surface treatment, electronic and magnetic material, solidification, materials processing, composite materials, metallic materials synthesize, calculation and simulation, and more.
